We will drive on the Friendship Highway from Kathmandu to Lhasa. From Kathmandu (1300m) to Kodari (1873m), the road gently up to Kodari. We will make a steep twitchback ascent to Tibetan border town—Zhangmu before leaving Nepal. Then we will climb the top of Tong-la and drive to Tingri the second night. Since we get in Tingri, the road is pretty good and we will start a pleasant journey. On the way, it will bring you to a world of breathtaking scenery and a specular roller-coaster ride down from high La Lung-la into the Kathmandu Valley. It will stopover at Gyantse, Shigates and EBC. Finally, we spend a couple of days in Lhasa, the heart and soul of Tibet and an object of devout pilgrimage, it is also a city of wonders. The medieval push and shove of crowds, the street performers, the stalls hawking everything from prayer flags to jewel-encrusted yak skulls, and the devout tapping their foreheads to the ground at every step is an exotic brew that few newcomers can resist. This trip is available all year around.

Dear Janet,We are safe and sound home and are looking back at a very impressive trip to Tibet and Zhangye. We have between us some 3000 pictures – some quite stunning. Yesterday the four of us expressed what an unforgettable trip this has been. We want to share our appreciation for the way the trip has been organised. Like clockwork. All guides appearing at the right time and place. Everything was very well organised. It was a bit double for us when we were in Lanzhou hearing about the earthquake creating havoc in Nepal, but not leaving Tibet unaffected either. Thank you again for a trip to be remembered for a long time.
